Lavie Bio Announces Biofungicide Licensing Agreement with Corteva
Corteva will receive exclusive rights to develop and commercialize Lavie Bio's lead product candidates for biological fungicides for fruit rot and powdery mildew
Syngenta Crop Protection reported on the launch of two insecticides: Verdavis and Sponta. Both have as their active ingredient the molecule that the company named Plinazolin (isocycloseram, isocicloseram, CAS 2061933-85-3, Irac 30).
O Verdavis, registered for soybeans and corn, is an insecticide and acaricide composed of Plinazolin and lambda-cyhalothrin (lambda-cyhalothrin, CAS 91465-08-6, Irac 3A). According to the company's statement, the product provides "more shock, more spectrum of action and more days of control". In addition to the traditional knock-down effect, it immediately stops the pests' feeding process.
According to Marcos Queiros, manager of insecticide innovations at Syngenta, the product is "capable of controlling all stages of pests (eggs, nymphs and adults) breaking the cycle".
In turn, the Sponta is an insecticide designed for cotton cultivation. It also has Plinazolin as its active ingredient. And it works against "boll weevils, mites and thrips". According to Syngenta, the product can be applied aerially or on land.
Plinazolin, Sponta and Verdavis are trademarks registered by Syngenta.
