Syngenta Crop Protection distributed a press release announcing the "launch" of Arvatico, "an exclusive microbiological fungicide and nematicide composed of organisms that increase its spectrum of action." The product is recommended for controlling nematodes and diseases in all crops. Initially, the company's focus will be on treating soybean, corn and cotton seeds.

“Arvatico has as its active ingredient the Bacillus velezensis, which protects the roots from emission until the end of the crop cycle through biofilm and metabolites that attack nematodes and fungi, in addition to the growth promoter effect”, he explains Carlos Tonet (pictured above), seedcare marketing manager at Syngenta.

The product is registered for use in all crops to control: Fusarium solani, Heterodera glycines, Macrophomina phaseolina, Meloidogyne incognita, Pratylenchus brachyurus e Rhizoctonia solani.

About Bacillus velezensis

According to technical documentation, Bacillus velezensis is a free-living aerobic bacterium found in the soil, Gram-positive, endospore-forming, which produces surfactant molecules and promotes plant growth, inducing systemic resistance to pathogens.

Numerous strains of this species suppress the growth of microbial pathogens, including bacteria, fungi, and nematodes.

Phylogenetic analyzes show proximity to species Bacillus atrophaeus, Bacillus mojavensis, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus vallismortis e Bacillus amyloliquefaciens. Based on phylogenetic analyses, several Bacillus species have been reclassified as B. Velezensis.
