Syngenta Crop Protection and Bioceres Crop Solutions announced today (16/9) a global commercial and R&D collaboration agreement. The business involves the areas of seed protection. And it covers Brazil and China, although it may depend on state authorizations.

According to an official statement, Syngenta will become the exclusive distributor for the global marketing of Bioceres' biological seed treatment solutions. Except in Argentina, where the currently existing terms will continue.

In terms of research and development (R&D), companies will jointly develop new products. They will also work on registering products already in the final preparation phase.

Jonathan Brown, Global Head of Syngenta Seedcare, explained that "the agreement with Bioceres reinforces our strategy of providing growers with complementary choices to manage pest resistance and improve crop health."

"This announcement showcases the value of our commercial offerings and R&D capabilities, and greatly expands and accelerates our ability to reach more growers through Syngenta Seedcare's global reach," said Bioceres CEO Federico Trucco.

Bioceres supplies biological inoculants, including rhizobia bacteria. Applied to seeds, these products help capture nitrogen from the atmosphere. The global organic seed treatment market is expected to grow from US$0,6 billion in 2020 to US$1,6 billion by 2030.

The collaboration between Bioceres and Syngenta is based on a commercial partnership that has existed for more than 20 years in Argentina, according to information from the companies.
