Strategies for carrying out a study that will support sustainable development actions in irrigated agriculture in Mato Grosso were discussed during a technical meeting on the 8th, in the auditorium of the Cloves Vettorato Building, in Cuiabá.
Organized by the Association of Bean, Wheat and Irrigation Producers of Mato Grosso (Aprofir), the event brought together around 60 people. Everardo Mantovani and Marcos Heil Costa, both from the Department of Agricultural Engineering at UFV (DEA/UFV), were the speakers.
The executive secretary of Aprofir, Afrânio César Migliari, assessed the meeting as positive. He believes that studies and actions will begin soon.
“The day after the event, we had another meeting with representatives from the State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema-MT). The objective is to do the work three ways, between Aprofir, the university and Sema. We were also approached by other entities and companies that showed interest in participating in the project”, revealed Migliari.
Alei Fernandes, member of Aprofir and director of the Irrigar group, a Valley reseller in Mato Grosso, also participated in the technical meeting. He highlighted the importance of the study to be developed for the growth of the sector.
“Through studies, we will know the potential and availability of surface and underground water to grow and expand the irrigation sector in Mato Grosso responsibly”, highlighted Fernandes.
