RS 2024/25 Harvest: weather damages vegetables in the State
Rain and low light levels favor diseases and delay field management in several crops
The Brazilian Association of Plant Nutrition Technology Industries – Abisolo released the results of the study “Fertilizer Producing and Importing Companies in Brazil – 2024 Edition”, which reveals a scenario of growth and renewal in the sector. The survey identified 872 active companies operating in the production and import of fertilizers, highlighting the dynamism and expansion of this market in recent years.
Between 2020 and 2024, 129 new companies began operating in the sector, with emphasis on those focused on the production of organomineral and organic fertilizers, reflecting the growing demand for technologies aligned with sustainability and the efficient use of natural resources.
Most companies are concentrated in the Southeast (50,6%) and South (28%) regions, with the state of São Paulo leading, responsible for 34,7% of the country's establishments. The survey also demonstrates the diversity of portfolios: 718 companies operate with mineral fertilizers, 388 with organomineral fertilizers, 476 with organic fertilizers and 11 with biofertilizers.
Another highlight is the variety of application methods considered by the companies. Of the 872 identified, 687 have products for application via soil, 547 via leaves, 126 via seeds, 160 via fertigation and 31 via hydroponics. These numbers demonstrate the sector's ability to offer solutions adapted to the different realities of the field.
Furthermore, more than 75% of companies started their activities after the year 2000, signaling a young, innovative and expanding industry.
This information makes it possible to understand the structure of the national fertilizer market, in order to guide public policies in favor of the sector. By mapping active companies and their segments of activity, Abisolo contributes to the valorization of a strategic industry, which has cutting-edge technologies available for food production in a country marked by different soils, climates, agricultural crops and producer profiles.
This scenario reinforces Abisolo's commitment to Intelligent Productivity, a concept that guides the Special Fertilizers sector in delivering solutions aligned with efficiency, innovation and the real needs of the Brazilian countryside.
