The panel to survey sugarcane production costs, referring to the 2022/2023 harvest, had great support from producers in the Penápolis (SP) region. In around 20 days, the PECEGE team, an ESALQ/USP extension group, will prepare a final report containing information on the production cost for the typical property size in the Penápolis region defined by the participants. This cost will be monitored, in order to update it monthly, and thus subsidize the actions of FAESP and CNA to defend public policy proposals aimed at the sugarcane sector.

The meeting stood out for the quality and detail of the information passed on by the participants to the technicians, in updating the main physical-economic coefficients of the typical sugarcane production property in the region. The exchange of information between the group of producers, gathered in person at the Rural Union, and PECEGE technicians took place via videoconference.

The debate was mediated by Nelson Perez, president of the CNA National Sugarcane Commission and Deputy Coordinator of the FAESP Sugarcane Commission. Technicians from Norplan - Association of Sugarcane Suppliers of Northwest Paulista, Cooperativa Coopercitrus and FMC Agrícola, as well as CNA and FAESP, also participated in the meeting.

The survey is part of the Campo Futuro Project of the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock - CNA, in partnership with PECEGE - Continuing Education Program in Economics and Business Management, an extension group of ESALQ/USP, and has support from FAESP and of Rural Unions. Technical work that combines producer training with the generation of information to manage production costs and price risks on rural properties.
