Brazil has a total volume of 13,1 million 60 kg bags of coffee that belong to the private sector, kept in various warehouses in the country. This quantity is 1,5% higher than that recorded in the survey at the end of the 2017/2018 harvest, whose stock reported was 12,9 million bags. The numbers are part of the Private Coffee Stock Survey (Vol.17), published by the National Supply Company (Conab), this Wednesday (5).
Also according to the study, Arabica coffee, predominant in the national private stock, corresponds to 87% of the total grain stored, reaching 11,4 million bags. This volume represents 34% of total Arabica production in 2018/2019 and 23% of national production recorded in the same year. The remaining 13% reported refers to the storage of conilon, which represents around 1,7 million bags of the private stock collected.
The study was carried out between March and May this year, with the purpose of determining the quantity of coffee stocks held by the private sector. This initiative allows you to know the volume available at the end of the 2018/2019 harvest, that is, to know what the carryover stock was on March 31st, the date that marked the entry of the new 2019/2020 harvest.
