Sumitomo Chemical highlighted its newest partnership with the MipExperience program at the 29th Hortitec. In addition to this initiative, the company also presented its technological innovations for vegetable and fruit (HF) crops. The company was also present at the 3rd MipExperience Workshop during the fair.
The initiative is promoted by Promip and grants the Quality Certification Seal to fruit, flower, and vegetable farmers who promote good agricultural practices that serve more demanding markets, with waste control and the use of sustainable products. The seal aims to consolidate a sustainable agricultural production system, with management strategies that respect and promote the health of people and the planet.
The implementation of the certification is validated by the complementary development audit protocol of Global Markets Apas (Associação Paulista de Supermercados), following the mandatory monitoring of pests, the use of bio-inputs and the measurement of carbon emissions.
BioRacionais BCE manager and HF Brazil leader at Sumitomo Chemical, Eduardo Rossini, states that this is a very important opportunity. “It further strengthens our values, for more sustainable agriculture. Sumitomo Chemical, with the help of Promip, is working much closer with producers who employ sustainable techniques and technologies and offer a differentiated product on the market”, he highlights.

We have been investing in the development of bio-inputs for many decades, and a classic example is the world-leading biological insecticide DiPel, with more than 50 years of tradition in the market”, explains Suellen Drummond, insecticides manager at Sumitomo Chemical.

For apples, the company presented Accede, a growth regulator recently launched for late thinning in apple trees, that is, a practice that consists of removing excess fruits in order to increase the size, color and quality of the remaining fruits. from the tree. Accede promotes larger caliber fruits, bringing operational gains to the producer by optimizing labor. Also presented were the growth regulators Promalin, which promotes better fruit formation, without “russeting”, MaxCel, for thinning low-quality flowers and fruits, and ReTain, a product that increases fruiting, delays maturation and brings a enormous benefit by allowing harvest scaling and quality improvement.
For grapes, in addition to MaxCel, which improves bunch formation, there were also Impulse growth regulators, for defoliation and improving branch maturation, ProTone, which accelerates the development of grape color and can improve brix and crispness, and ProGibb, which improves bunch formation and increases berry size.
The fair also had a doubly effective solution, being acaricide and insecticide, Ohayo, aimed at tomato cultivation. It promotes broad-spectrum protection, acting through contact and ingestion to control mites and whiteflies, one of the most feared agricultural pests. In tomatoes, for example, the insect sucks nutrients and can also transmit diseases.
