Sumitomo Chemical participates in the 7th National Congress of Agribusiness Women

Sumitomo Chemical is part of the list of sponsors of the National Congress of Women in Agribusiness, an event that this year reaches its 7th edition. Based in the capital of São Paulo, the meeting brings together several Brazilian agribusiness professionals in a robust program of activities to discuss topics related to female participation in the management and coordination of production chains.

Promoting diversity and inclusion is one of the priority themes of Sumitomo Chemical Latin America’s strategic sustainability planning. It is also one of the seven pillars of action of the company's Sustainability Committee. 

One of the focuses of diversity actions is the promotion of gender equity issues, in which one of the first actions was to become a signatory of the Female Empowerment Principles (WEPs) with UN Women, committing to the goal of having, By 2025, at least 30% of leadership positions will be held by women.

“For significant changes to occur, a society-wide movement is necessary to break prejudices and biases, and organizations certainly play a fundamental role. It has the responsibility of opening up more and more space for the inclusion of women in the business world and in leadership. A topic of human rights, equity and profitability", declares Andrea Oliveira, Director of HR and General Affairs at Sumitomo Chemical Latin America.
