Sumitomo Chemical is a finalist partner in the Cesb Maximum Productivity Challenge

Farmer Silvio Castro Cunha Júnior (in the photo), from Fazenda Santana 4, in Campo Florido (MG), obtained a productivity of 120 bags of soybeans/ha, achieving third place in the National Challenge for Maximum Soybean Productivity of Cesb 23/ 24, in the Irrigated category. Castro has adopted Sumitomo Chemical solutions for more than 5 harvests to manage, protect and explore the maximum productive potential of his crop, thus ensuring maximum expression of the crop's yield.

Among the solutions in the Sumitomo Chemical portfolio adopted by Silvio is the company's most recent launch, the fungicide Excalia Max® (a unique formulation with two active ingredients and two mechanisms of action that complement each other for better control of the soybean disease complex and resistance management). Excalia Max® is ideal for asset rotation, with a broad spectrum of control, acting on Asian rust (Phakopsora pachyrhizi), target spot (Corynespora cassiicola), grain rot and stem breakage, in addition to efficiently controlling DFCs (Diseases End of Soy Cycle).

In the management of pre-emergence weeds, he used the herbicide Zethamaxx®, which is selective, with a double mode of action with the association of flumioxazine (original molecule from Sumitomo Chemical), with the active ingredient imazethapyr, recommended for the management of difficult-to-control weeds. 

Of the solutions in the BioRacionais portfolio, he used EndoMaxx® (arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi that colonize the roots, improving the absorption of water and nutrients), which is also new on the market; and the growth regulator ProGibb® (a product based on gibberellic acid, responsible for promoting uniformity in the development of soybean flowers and reducing abortion). 

As for the insecticides, those chosen were Decision® (which has a high shock effect, long period of control and a broad spectrum of action) and Legion® (insecticide with a double mechanism of action, acting via contact and ingestion), recommended for control of sucking insects.

The result of 120 bags of soybeans per hectare placed producer Silvio Castro Cunha Júnior among the finalists of the 16th National Challenge for Maximum Soybean Productivity, organized by the Brazilian Soy Strategic Committee (Cesb), with more than six thousand registrants from 1.100 municipalities in 20 states of the federation. The event highlights the importance of productivity, efficiency and sustainability of the soy production system in Brazil and has Sumitomo Chemical as one of the sponsors.
