Almost half of the amount invested in financing for cooperative members directly serves agribusiness
Orplana – Organization of Brazilian Sugarcane Producers Associations brought together today (18/9), representatives of the largest cooperatives in the sector to present the carrying out of a study that will carry out a detailed x-ray of the sector's producers. At the CanaCooper meeting, held in Ribeirão Preto, Coplana, Coplacana, Coopercitrus, Coopercana and Camda were present, which together represent an estimated share of 81% of the country's sugarcane producers.
To the cooperatives, Orplana detailed how the study will be implemented, which aims to collect data on sugarcane producers, consumption habits, production, among other information. “The objective is to map and provide improvements throughout the chain, not only in environmental and sustainability projects, but also incentives for new business, culture and technical education for the producer”, explained Orplana CEO, José Guilherme Nogueira.
“Cana-X” will also address satisfaction in relation to cooperatives, associations and the government, in addition to mapping how investments in technology are made, financing for production and equipment purchases, market size and how producers are preparing and a recurring theme: family succession.
Part of the results of this study will be presented to authorities, the federal government, financial institutions, associations, rural producers and companies in the sector during CANA SUMMIT, an information, networking and business event scheduled to take place on April 3 and 4, 2024, in Brasilia DF.
“The reception was very positive. We want to gather as much information as possible from this x-ray to later offer solutions in all areas”, he concluded.
