The average productivity of sugarcane fields harvested in July in the Center-South (98 t/ha) was 24,1% higher than that recorded in the previous harvest (78,9 t/ha). In the accumulated result for the harvest, productivity follows the same trend, with a positive variation of approximately 22% (93,6 t/ha in this harvest, against 76,5 t/ha in 2022/23).
The data are from the Olho Na Safra Bulletin, released today by the CTC (Canavieira Technology Center).
The highlights of productivity growth in July were Araçatuba (35,8%), São Carlos (33,5%) and Mato Grosso do Sul (31,5%)
The quality of the raw material (ATR) harvested in July was lower in practically all regions, with the exception of the states of Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná.
This lower richness in the month of July can be attributed to the better distribution of rainfall that occurred in the Center-South region, which, consequently, contributed to better water storage in the soil.
With more water in the soil, sugarcane tends to mature less, reducing sugar production.
The July ATR value negatively affected the harvest accumulation for this indicator, however, in the Center-South average the values are practically the same, being 129,8 kg/tc in 2022/23 to 129,5 kg/tc in this harvest . The biggest drops were observed in São Carlos (-6,2%), Piracicaba (-5,9%) and São José do Rio Preto (-3%).
