Sugarcane field performance in the Center-South continued its downward trend in August, according to data from the CTC Benchmarking Platform. Average productivity reached 77,5 tons per hectare, slightly below the 78,8 tons/ha recorded in the same month of 2024. Sugarcane quality (ATR) fell from 148,4 kg/t to 144,2 kg/t, a decrease of 2,9%.

For the 2025/26 harvest, indicators also point to a decline. Average productivity fell 8,2%, to 79,2 t/ha, compared to 86,3 t/ha in the previous cycle. The accumulated ATR was 129,7 kg/t, compared to 133,2 kg/t in the same period of the previous harvest.

Regional impacts and climatic factors

The survey shows that, although some regions reported positive results, most regions in the Center-South region suffered a decline in productivity. States such as Goiás and Mato Grosso recorded declines in both tons per hectare and ATR.

Climatic conditions help explain this scenario. Precipitation data indicate accumulations below the historical average, especially between May and August, which compromised soil water storage.
