A trend observed throughout the harvest, average sugar cane yields in the Center-South continue to be much higher than those of the last harvest. This is what the Bulletin De Olho Na Safra shows, released today by the Canavieira Technology Center (CTC). According to CTC technicians, the current harvest, from April to September, is the most productive in the 20-year history of the CTC Benchmarking Program, a collaborative data platform between plants in the Center-South.

The sugarcane fields harvested in September reached 83,2 tons per hectare, a productivity 21,3% higher than that recorded in the previous harvest (68,5 t/ha). In the accumulated result for the harvest, productivity records growth of close to 22% (91,1 t/ha in this harvest, against 74,5 t/ha in 2022-23).

The biggest productivity growth in this harvest was observed in Araçatuba (37,4%), Piracicaba (28,7%) and São Carlos (27,9%).

The quality of the raw material (ATR) harvested in September was equal to the average of the previous harvest (151,3 kg/tc in the last harvest versus 151,2 kg/tc in this harvest). Accumulated, the values follow the same trend and remain the same on average for the Center-South, being 136,8 kg/tc in the 2022-23 harvest and 136,6 kg/tc in the current harvest.

Most regions, with the exception of the states of Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul and the regions of Assis and Araçatuba, have lower ATR variations when compared to 2022-23.

This difference is mainly due to the good volume and better distribution of rainfall, which helped to maintain high water levels in the soil, a condition that tends to harm the accumulation of sucrose by the plant.
