15th National Meeting on Direct Planting in Straw brought together the greatest researchers on the subject in Goiânia (GO)
The meeting brought together names who discussed the latest information about the Direct Planting System (SPD)
There was a time when the material resulting from agro-industrial production was treated as waste. Today, agro-industrial waste enters a sustainable nutrient cycling process that influences the quality of agricultural production, optimizes the use of resources in farming, improves production standards and enriches natural resources.
Agricultural engineer Pedro Henrique de Cerqueira Luz, professor at the Animal Science department at USP in Pirassununga (SP), explains that, using techniques for managing sugarcane by-products, it is possible to save R$445 per hectare in fertilizing a sugarcane field that produces between 90 and 100 tons of cane per hectare. “Agricultural production systems must seek the path of efficiency with sustainability, and in this context, soil fertility management is fundamental”, he says.
According to Cerqueira Luz, there are nine million hectares of sugar cane in Brazil. Of these, around two million use solid and liquid waste for fertilization. He explains that the technique allows the use of organic, mineral and combined fertilizers with positive results in sugarcane productivity and gains for both sugar and ethanol.
The agronomist will show experiences using waste cycling techniques in the lecture “Soil fertility management to improve plant productivity", which he will give on October 19th, at 19:30 pm. He will participate in the 10th Agronomy Week of the Engineering Association, Architecture and Agronomy of Ribeirao Preto (AAEARP), which will take place from October 18th to 20th with lectures focusing on technologies and planning to increase productivity in the field.
To register, participants must donate two kilos of non-perishable food. Registration can be done on the page www.aeaarp.org.br. The complete program is in this link.
