Startup will collect PET bottles at Expointer to build silos

Highlight of recent years in innovation during Expointer, the Startup from Rio Grande do Sul Silo Verde, based at Tecnosinos, in São Leopoldo (RS), is developing for the second year in a row a sustainability campaign actually implemented during the fair. At the Assis Brasil Exhibition Park, in Esteio (RS), collection points were placed in strategic locations throughout the fair, which will receive PET bottles produced by visitors to the event. Visitors who come to the fair this weekend will be able to help with the action. 

 The Ecopoints, made from cardboard, are also new, and will be allocated correctly after the end of the event in Esteio. Equipment made from this waste will be sold with unique discounts during the fair itself. "The waste generated at the event will be used in the production of special batches of silos, benefiting producers", notes the company's director, Manolo Machado.

In partnership with the Union of Gas Stations of Rio Grande do Sul (Sulpetro), an action will also be launched to make these collection points available at several gas stations of different brands, with the aim of generating a community awareness campaign, integrating society to action. In addition, Silo Verde also intends to extend this initiative to universities and schools. "We understand that once society becomes aware of the benefits it is generating for rural producers and the environment, actions become more consistent", highlights the company's Commercial and Marketing Director, Maurício Bruno. 

The president of Sulpetro, Adão Oliveira, states that the joint initiative reinforces the commitment of the entity, which represents the gas stations and are points of reference and service provision for the community. “Because they are in strategic locations with great visibility and movement of people, fuel resellers will be able to assist in this social and sustainable action”, he comments.
 
At last year's Expointer, more than 7 thousand PET bottles were collected during the event, which led to the construction of two silos. Silo Verde is a company that operates directly in two of the main segments of the economy, agriculture and the environment. In agriculture and livestock, it enables increased profitability, quality of life and practicality in field work, reducing food waste and economic losses. In the environmental segment, it generates great impact and benefits when using as raw material for the construction of silos for storing grains and feed, tons of PET bottles that would otherwise become environmentally polluting waste. Among the stations that will receive the Ecopontos, three are in Porto Alegre. Collection points for Pets bottles will also be in São Leopoldo and Cachoeirinha.
