The series of articles on the fall armyworm Spotodptera frugiperda published exclusively by Cultivar Grandes Culturas magazine in September 2019 has just gained an English version. The measure aims to meet the intense demand for citations of the study as a reference outside Brazil, especially due to the migration of the plague to continents and countries where it had not yet been recorded.
The complete study, divided into three articles, is authored by researchers from Brazil, Australia and Africa. The first part addresses the accelerated migration of the pest and how the insect finds an extremely favorable environment in Brazilian cultivation conditions due to the continued supply of food. Next, the researchers address the main agricultural targets of the caterpillar Spotodptera frugiperda.
In the final part of the study, the authors address insect control strategies, with an emphasis on integrated measures, joint and global planning that go beyond mere individual management on the property.
