Farmers in Bahia invest in a study to use rock dust to increase soil nutrients
Bahian farmers will start investing in research to use the efficiency of ground rock powder
Climatempo, the largest private meteorology company in the country, brings its exclusive precision agrometeorology service, Agroclima PRO, to Show Rural Coopavel. The tool brings innovation and technology to the field for greater productivity and better harvest results. During the event, which takes place from February 5th to 9th in Cascavel (PR), visitors will have the chance to understand how the use of climate and time in agriculture can make all the difference in business planning and development.
The term precision agrometeorology unites the already traditional precision agriculture – which analyzes the variability of production based on factors such as soil fertility and water resources – with the meteorological part. “Agroclima PRO helps producers see how weather and climate variability in the short and long term can interfere with their productivity and profitability”, explains Patrícia Madeira, Product director and meteorologist at Climatempo.
Agroclima PRO works in a georeferenced way and can provide specific information about each point on the farm. In other words, the tool is capable of reading the different microclimates – climatic variations in a given area – of a region. “The temperature, the water level in the soil, the incidence of pests, everything can vary from one location to another. Climatempo’s technology can capture these differences and offer producers a much more effective segmented planning option”, says Patrícia.
Weather stations
The solution is also pioneering in allowing the integration of data captured from farm weather stations. The connection works in a similar way to transport applications. Users share information they already have to make the quality of service even better. The goal is to create a large forecasting network for agriculture and improve the quality of data sent to farmers.
The stations are capable of recording air temperature and humidity, wind speed and direction, solar radiation, rain, atmospheric pressure, among other variables. They also help to measure several factors that influence the management of activities on the farm, such as accumulated precipitation during the harvest and the average temperature in a given period.
Currently, the most important meteorological station in the country is coordinated by the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET). Another important network is that of the National Institute for Space Research (INPE). Climatempo has access to information from these systems and also has a broad portfolio of networks connected to its forecasting platforms.
Farmers who do not have a station on their property can hire Agroclima PRO with the option of purchasing the device. The company entered into a partnership with some companies specialized in developing the equipment to offer greater convenience to users.
“Agroclima Pro’s technology and data intelligence can contribute to greater development in the field, as, with our service, the farmer can make faster and more assertive decisions”, says the Product Director at Climatempo.
