During the 31st edition of the Show Rural Coopavel, the president of the Legislative Assembly of Paraná, Ademar Traiano, enacted a law that guarantees the continuity of the Rural Night Tariff that reaches 12 thousand rural producers in the State. With law 19.812/2019 in force, the benefit is valid immediately. Farmers were insecure about the continuity which, if nothing was done, would end on the last day of 2018.

Without a new law, which was approved in the second half of last year in the Assembly, producers would already be paying, since January 1, 2019, 60% more for energy consumed in the period from 21:30 pm to 6 am, informs state deputy Márcio Nunes (Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Tourism of the Ratinho Junior Government), author of the proposal. “This represents R$40 million more resources in farmers’ pockets, money that will strengthen these properties and the economy of the municipalities.”

One of the differences of the law that has just been enacted is that it has no expiration date. The rural producers reached by the matter are those with the lowest consumption in the State. The reduction in energy costs has an important impact on their activity, because this is already one of the main inputs, for example, to maintain activities such as poultry farming, pig farming and dairy farming, according to Márcio Nunes.

At the same time that it brings savings to the sector and eliminates insecurity regarding the continuity of the benefit, the law that has just been enacted also becomes an incentive for minis and small rural producers who want to diversify their rural properties. “Any benefit that counts in favor of production is very welcome and has our support”, says the president of Coopavel and Show Rural, Dilvo Grolli.
