The state of Rio Grande do Sul is the largest rice producer, with more than 1 million hectares planted in the last 2018/2019 harvest. Focusing on this market, Kuhn launches three new products at Expointer 2019. The Quadra 7500 and Oriza are new seeders and the Accura 14000 is a trailed fertilizer distributor for rice farmers. And to complete the line of sprayers, it offers the market the lightest self-propelled sprayer in its category, the Figther 2500.

Package of solutions for rice producers

The rice version of the Quadra 7500 completes the family of pneumatic seeders Quadra. A pioneer in this technology, Kuhn allows the average rice farmer to have access to the latest technology for planting the crop, previously only available in larger models.

“The Quadra 7500 is the only one on the pneumatic seeder market with a flexible chassis in three modules, it provides unparalleled performance when passing through mud. In addition, the pantograph lines with high fluctuation guarantee uniformity in planting depth, enabling a real increase in productivity”, explains Kuhn product specialist, Felipe Zolet.

Another big difference is that the side wheels increase the stability of the Quadra 7500 during maneuvers, minimizing torsion in the chassis and thus extending the useful life of the equipment. The specialist goes further and considers, “Our hydraulic cylinders allow the operator to increase or decrease the pressure on the lateral modules, guaranteeing a constant and uniform cutting pressure”.

Oriza, the solution for rice planting

The high cost of national rice production is one of the main challenges that rice farmers face, therefore, having a machine on their property that does not break down, with low maintenance and above-average delivery is all that the producer needs. And that's what Kuhn's launch provides: efficiency and robustness.

Kuhn's new seeder dedicated to rice planting, the Oriza, offers robustness and high performance. With polyethylene reservoirs that do not corrode with exposure to time and fertilizer, in addition, the lines with high fluctuation provide uniform planting that follows the relief of the mud.

“We are very happy to offer our customers and the market a robust machine that delivers what the rice farmer needs. One of our premises when developing Oriza was to minimize the high cost of the activity, offering a machine ready for rice crops”, celebrates José Carlos Bassetti, marketing manager at Kuhn.

“Oriza combines high performance and efficiency in rice cultivation and is available from 26 to 32 lines. Kuhn provides rural producers with a range of equipment and solutions that no other company has”, comments Bassetti.

Accura 14000, the ideal fertilizer spreader for rice farmers

The Accura 14000 was designed for the rice producer. It is a machine capable of maintaining fertilizer distribution rates in different crop conditions. “The Accura 14000 evenly distributes the product in conditions such as crossing ramparts and varying speeds. These are very common occasions to find on rice farms. However, this ends up intervening in the efficiency of a conventional fertilizer distributor, for example”, explains Kuhn product specialist, Luis Guilherme Lemes.

With a uniform spread of inputs, real gains in productivity are guaranteed, as they reduce the impact of driving errors. The coaxial distribution adjustment (CDA) system changes the fertilizer drop point to adjust the spreading pattern quickly and easily for the operator. The mechanical drive of the agitator allows a consistent speed of 17 rpm. Slow, staggered shaking prevents damage to fertilizer granules or seeds.

To ensure a precise drop point on the disc, a conductive brush maintains the fertilizer flow until it is directed through the vanes. The deflectors Airfin reduce the turbulence generated by the discs, ensuring a uniform flow in distribution. “On properties we have different fertilizers, variable application rates, and multiple working widths, the rice version of Accura makes the fertilizer spreader adapt quickly to different needs”, ponders the specialist.

Kuhn's marketing manager celebrates that with the addition of this machine to the company's portfolio it is possible to serve everything from small to large producers. “We were able to deliver technologies that really provide increased productivity, regardless of the size of the property. We cannot forget the ease of operating the machines. We deliver high technology, with easy operation”.

More power and less cost

The pulverizer is one of the most used machines in the production process, as it comes into action from pre-planting to the grain filling stage. With a capacity of 2500 liters, the Fighter is the producer's newest ally when it comes to spraying. It has a main application bar of 30 meters and has optional 27m or 32m bars, which guarantees high performance in applications.

Its balanced weight combined with a well-sized transmission allows work on any type of terrain - with high slopes and/or humid conditions. This set generates efficiency, the machine can reach up to 70 hectares per hour”, explains Luis Guilherme.

The Fighter is one of the lightest self-propelled models in its class, which considerably reduces soil compaction and is capable of starting applications early even in wetter soil conditions. “The stainless steel tank promotes high resistance to shocks and corrosion, in addition to making it easier to clean the tank when changing pesticides, more efficiently avoiding contamination and plant phytotoxicity.

“Another great benefit is the dual electronically controlled diesel engine and transmission, which results in greater traction capacity and lower fuel consumption. And of course, the fact that he can work on any terrain, be it the most rugged ones like those in the South region of Brazil, or even the flattest ones, like in the Brazilian Center-West”, ponders Luis. “The Fighter is a very complete and versatile machine, it has an excellent bar size, with greater operational efficiency, less crushing and lower fuel consumption. It’s cost and time optimization!”

Time to resume business with the new harvest plan

“It is a very happy moment of increasing consolidation in the market for Kuhn. And bringing these solutions to rice producers here, during this fair, gives us immense joy. In our segment, we face moments of crisis, of decline, but also moments of great prosperity”, celebrates Robson Zofoli, commercial director at Kuhn.

Zofoli also considers that this is a time of recovery for the sector. “We had a beginning of the year in which rural producers were very motivated to make new investments in the property. However, from May onwards, we had an interruption in financing programs due to a lack of funds, such as Moderfrota, Pronaf. In June, the figures for the new harvest plan were released, which means that the agricultural machinery market can regain its momentum”, concludes the director.
