A reference in direct planting in Brazil and around the world, agronomist and researcher Dirceu Gassen changed lives and destinies throughout his journey. Dynamic, inspiring and passionate about his work, he was the subject of several tributes in this edition of Expodireto.
At the Semeato stand, an exhibition with photos taken by Master Dirceu reveals the researcher's different perspective on agriculture. The images were selected by his wife Elaine Gassen. The opening ceremony of the exhibition, this Tuesday, 12th, at the company's stand, brought together admirers, family and friends and was marked by emotion. He passed away in September 2018.
“We shared everything, but it didn’t have the scale of his work. I have no words to thank you”, declared Elaine. “Gratitude is what defines this moment”, added Thais, one of the daughters. “He was my lifelong brother and an exemplary professional,” said Sérgio Schneider, a researcher and longtime friend, with whom he worked for 40 years.
The legacy left by Gassen is also immortalized on the Agro Walk of Fame. He is among the 20 personalities in the sector who were fundamental in the history of Expodireto Cotrijal and honored in the fair's garden, with bronze plaques.
At the Cotrijal Vegetable and Seed Production stand, a plaque recognizing the importance of the researcher catches the attention of visitors. “He combined scientific knowledge like few others in the area in which he had training. He put passion into everything he did”, highlighted the Superintendent of Agricultural Production, Gelson Melo de Lima.
“Gassen left an undeniable contribution. In all his lectures, at Expodireto, the house was always full”, highlighted the vice-president of Cotrijal, Enio Schroeder.
