Thinking about technology as an ally for producers and professionals in the segment, during the 21st Expodireto Cotrijal, Drakkar decided to open, for the first time, its big data. This content takes a tour of a database spanning more than 14 years, almost 2 million hectares mapped, more than 500 thousand soil samples, spread across 7 states in Brazil. This data was published in edition nº 12 of Precision Agriculture in Focus Journal, a production by Drakkar Precision Agriculture with the support of Fatec Shunji Nishimura and Agrocat. The central theme of this edition is Artificial Intelligence: a new frontier for Agronomy.

“The content of this edition is mainly characterized by its approach to new technologies that are appearing to contribute to the world of agribusiness and we could not fail to bring data from our big data. Even our team was impressed by the wealth of information generated and we wanted to share some with our readers”, emphasizes the president of Drakkar and editor of the newspaper Dr. Alan Acosta.

The paper focuses on the use of big data and data driven as essential tools for quick decision-making in agricultural businesses. “This edition explains in detail this new technological wave that is beginning in agribusiness. To do this, we sought help from one of the main centers for practical studies on the Big Data: FATEC Shunji Nishimura of Pompéia, in the interior of São Paulo. Institution that in 2016 conceived and created the first course in Brazil in Big Data in Agribusiness. The Prof. Dr. Tsen Chung Kang, one of the creators of the project, told us how the market demand arose, what is the Big Data, how it will impact agribusiness, what is already known about its applicability and where this set of technologies is headed. To complete, we asked the course coordinator, Prof. Dr. Luis Hilário Tobler Garcia, to write the Expert's Word with the following challenge: Big Data in Agribusiness: Dream or Reality”, says Acosta.
