The lower-than-expected rainfall in regions of the South and Central-West of the country has worried soybean farmers regarding the development of crops. Some producers in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina even slowed down the sowing of the oilseed, in order to wait for greater soil moisture.

Data from Conab (National Supply Company) indicate that, of the 43,24 million hectares to be cultivated with soy in Brazil, 75,9% had been sown by the 19th, below the 85,7% in the same period of the season previous.

In Argentina, the lack of rain is even greater, a scenario that limits field activities and leaves soybean farmers on alert. Of the 16,7 million hectares of soybeans to be cultivated in the neighboring country, only 19,4% were sown by the 24th, a delay of 20 percentage points compared to the same period in 2021, according to the Cereals Exchange.
