Soybean prices have risen on the Brazilian market in recent days, driven by the appreciation of the dollar, firm demand and delays in shipments of the grain. This delay is due to the low availability of trucks, which has generated queues of ships at the ports.

Agents consulted by Cepea indicate that road freight jumped from R$110,00/ton at the beginning of February to approximately R$200,00/ton in the first week of March. With the delay in the harvest and delivery of soybeans, the volume available on the spot market remains low, increasing prices.

The ESALQ/BM&FBovespa – Paranaguá Indicator rose 4,1% between February 26th and March 5th, closing at R$ 174,34/sc on Friday, 5th. The CEPEA/ESALQ Paraná Indicator registered an increase of 3,6% in the same comparison, at R$ 166,40/sc of 60 kg on day 5.
