The Agricultural Defense Agency (Adapec), authorized through Normative Instruction (IN) No. 06 of May 26, 2023, the extension until June 5, the window for planting soybean seeds in the tropical floodplains of Tocantins, which would close on Wednesday, 31. IN maintains the harvest deadline for September 20th.
The decision to extend the deadline for planting in the topical floodplains took into account the requests made by the Association of Rural Producers of Southwest Tocantins (APROEST) and the Rio Formoso Irrigation District, which requested the extension of the harvest planting window during the exceptional period. to the sanitary void of soybeans, as a large number of producers had difficulties planting soybeans, as there were above-average rains in the region.
The technical responsible for the State Asian Rust Control Program, Cleovan Barbosa, said that the Agency responded to the entities' request as it understood their justifications, that the extension of the deadline for five days with the maintenance of the deadline for harvesting on the day September 20th will not affect the Asian rust control and monitoring calendar carried out by Adapec in that region.
The tropical floodplain region is formed by the municipalities of Cristalândia, Lagoa da Confusao, Pium, Dueré, Formoso do Araguaia and Santa Rita do Tocantins.
