Soybean planting in Rio Grande do Sul has already reached 99% of the area planned for the harvest of 5,9 million hectares. According to the Economic Information released on Thursday (02/01), by Emater/RS-Ascar, in partnership with the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (Seapdr), 85% of crops are in the vegetative development phase , 14% in flowering and 1% in the grain filling phase.
According to the technical director of Emater/RS, Alencar Rugeri, the Planning Management (GPL) began to survey the possible effects of the weather conditions of the last few days, due to the lack of rain and excessive heat.
Last week, the implementation of corn cultivation reached 95% of the area of more than 777 thousand hectares intended for planting in the State. Of the planted crops, 29% are in the vegetative development phase, 16% in flowering, 37% in grain filling, 17% mature and yet to be harvested. 1% has already been harvested.
Rice cultivation is implemented in 100% of the area of more than 944 thousand hectares planned for this harvest. Favorable weather in all regions allowed planting to advance, in addition to favoring the development of the crop. Of the planted crops, 90% are in the vegetative development phase and 10% are in flowering.
In the administrative region of Emater/RS-Ascar de Lajeado, in the last 21 days, rainfall was below average, scattered from the beginning to the end of the period, but with low intensity. However, so far, there is no shortage of water, as most vegetable growers have good reserves in reservoirs. However, the weather has become very hot this past week and signs of damage are already being seen in some activities. Unlike previous years, the heat wave that began to hit the region since December 23 came suddenly, surprising many vegetable growers. Some producers report that sales in Ceasa and the market in general have decreased, due to the time of year and as a reflection of the holiday period, when the population in the Metropolitan region decreases significantly.
In the administrative region of Emater/Ascar de Lajeado, the high temperatures of recent days, with averages above 29ºC, will possibly halt the floral induction of day-neutral strawberry cultivars, which produce relatively well at this time, within limits. In general, prices have remained stable. Strawberries did not show a more significant price increase as expected, because the supposed increase in demand at Christmas ended up not happening. There was a good supply of peaches and watermelons and, in addition, the producers' perception is that the sales movement in Ceasa, as a whole, was below expectations for this time of year.
