Period without rain allows progress in sowing the main summer grains in RS
The low incidence of rain in recent days has led to significant progress in soybean sowing, partially compensating for the previous delay
The Paraná Agricultural Defense Agency (Adapar) is advising soybean producers especially in the Southwest, South and Center-South on the expansion of the planting schedule for the 2023/2024 cycle in the state. Now, soybean farmers in the state can plant until January 31st.
According to the coordinator of the Pest Surveillance and Prevention program in Agricultural and Forestry Crops at Adapar, Marcílio Martins Araújo, the measure takes into account the impact of the rainy climate, which made planting in these regions difficult.
“After analysis and alignment between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and Adapar, the producers' request was accepted, recognizing the adverse conditions imposed by the weather conditions”, he says. To join the expansion of the calendar, producers in these regions need to register their areas with Adapar through an online form.
The document that defined the planting dates is Ordinance 886/2023, from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa). By this rule, three distinct calendars were established for Paraná: the South and Central-South (zone 1) could sow until January 18; the Southwest until January 15th (zone 3) and the rest of the State until December 20th (zone 2).
The properties most affected by the rains are within zones 1 and 3. However, zone 2 properties that have also been proven to be affected may also benefit from the new calendar.
Adapar's guidance is that producers remain vigilant in monitoring Asian rust and adopt control measures recommended by technical assistance professionals in their respective regions. “Adapar will intensify monitoring and monitoring of the development of the disease in these regions to ensure the effectiveness of the measures and preserve the productivity of soybean crops in the face of the climatic challenges faced by farmers in Paraná”, adds Araújo.
