Soy Sanitary Vacuum begins on June 1st in Region 1 of the State of São Paulo

After publication of Ordinance No. 1.111 of the Ministry of Agriculture (Mapa) which established the periods of sanitary void and soybean sowing calendar at national level for the 2024/2025 harvest, the Agricultural Defense Coordination (CDA) of the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (SAA) informs that the first of the three periods taking place in the State of São Paulo this year begins this Saturday, June 1st.

“Until the last harvest in 2023/2024, we had a single period of lack of health, which was from June 15th to September 15th, and the sowing calendar, which ran from September 16th to December 24th. With the change, the State now has three regions with different periods of sanitary void and sowing calendar”, explains Jucileia Wagatsuma, agronomist and manager of the State Phytosanitary Surveillance Program.

“The change also brought an advance of these periods in two regions, with Region 1, for example, the sanitary void starting on June 1st”, adds the manager.

Regions 2 and 3 begin on the 12th and 15th of June, respectively and continue until the 12/09 and 15/09.

“It is worth remembering that the producer must be aware of this change, trying to know the period of sanitary void corresponding to their production areas, in order to keep them free of volunteer soybean plants, throughout the period of sanitary vacancy”, advises Jucileia.

Mandatory registration of soybean producing units

Another measure instituted by Mapa is the registration of soybean-producing properties throughout the national territory. Therefore, producers must register information about sowing in Gedave – the computerized system of the São Paulo Department of Agriculture and Supply, within 15 days after the end of sowing. In the State of São Paulo, the sowing period occurs between September 01st and December 29th. For more information regarding unit registration, look for an Agricultural Defense unit.
