Soybean planting is completed in RS and production potential continues to be affected by drought
4% of the cultivated area is already maturing, another 44% in grain filling, 37% in flowering and 15% still in germination and vegetative development
Soybean producers in Rondônia have already started harvesting the grain. According to a survey by the National Supply Company (Conab), until the beginning of this month, around 15% of the 403 thousand hectares cultivated with the oilseed in the state had already been harvested. The percentage corresponds to more than 60 thousand hectares and tends to advance at a more intense pace, as soon as weather conditions are more favorable for machinery to enter the fields. It is worth mentioning that at the same time that the soybean harvest is intensified, the sowing of second-crop corn is advancing throughout the state, using the same area occupied by the oilseed.
In the current season, the area occupied by soybeans should increase by 1,6% in relation to the last harvest, as shown in the 5th harvest survey released this month by Conab. The planting of the oilseed occurred within the ideal window in most producing regions, which generated positive expectations. However, the high cost of production and the reduced supply of fertilizers impacted crop management, which results in a lower expected crop productivity, reaching 3.308 kilos harvested per hectare planted. As a result, the expected harvest is 1,33 million tons, a slight drop of 3,1% when compared to the previous cycle.
The flow of the main grain grown in the state, in turn, initially occurs from farms, silos and dryers by land to ports located in the capital in Porto Velho. Subsequently, the journey is made via river from the Madeira waterway, using trains with several barges and pusher, with the initial destination being the ports of Manaus-AM, Itacoatiara-AM and Santarém-PA. Transport and export are then carried out by ships, with the main destinations being ports located in Spain, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Algeria, the Netherlands, France, Portugal, Tunisia, Mexico, Italy, Russia, Greece, Belgium, Iran and China.

In addition to favoring fruit infections caused by the fungus that causes the disease, these more intense rainy periods can also compromise control efficiency, as well as the protection program adopted on citrus farms.
