Soybean harvest advances and indicates promising businesses during the Bahia Farm Show

At least 80% of the 1,7 million hectare area occupied by soybeans in Western Bahia has already been harvested at robust yields of 66 bags per hectare. These numbers give the green light for the success of the 16th edition of the Bahia Farm Show, from May 31st to June 04th in Luís Eduardo Magalhães (BA). After a two-year hiatus, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event returns bigger, driven by repressed demand and appears to be a strategic stage for carrying out promising business. The results in the field should motivate producers in the region to reinforce investments in machinery, inputs and technologies.  

“We are prepared to welcome everyone who wants to purchase items to help with the work in the field. There will be more than 1.200 brands offered by the 320 exhibitors who have already confirmed their presence at the event. In addition, a program of technical lectures will contribute to the dissemination of knowledge aimed at farmers, researchers, students and other professionals who have agribusiness as their priority activity”, highlights Alan Malinski, executive director of the Association of Farmers and Irrigators of Bahia ( Aiba), entity that organizes the Bahia Farm Show.

Allied to the expectation of the result of the soybean harvest in the West is the latest report from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), which reinforces the strength of regional crops. According to the report, of the ten largest grain-producing municipalities in Brazil, two are in Bahia. Formosa do Rio Preto with 1.619.930 tons and São Desidério with 1.462.200 tons, both in the West. First place is Sorriso (MT) with 2.283.300 tons. In the list of regional crops that project Western Bahia in the national agribusiness scenario, corn, with a planted area of ​​247 thousand hectares and an average productivity of 170 bags per hectare; and cotton, in an area of ​​300 thousand hectares and productivity that exceeds 310 tons per hectare.

“These are very positive results and demonstrate the commitment of farmers in Western Bahia to produce more and more, optimizing available resources, with environmental and social responsibility. The Bahia Farm Show, in this resumption edition, is focused precisely on offering producers the most advanced technology and services for efficient rural management. The business consolidated at the event will result in lower costs and better productivity in Western crops”, anticipates the president of the fair and Aiba, Odacil Ranzi.

Modern infrastructure

In addition to expanding the area by 30%, with 13 new islands for exhibition, the organizers of the Bahia Farm Show continue to invest to provide the best environment for visitors too. The area allocated to family farming was increased, from 600 m² to 2 thousand m². The fair will have a food court, amusement park, two restaurants, 100% paved streets, most of which are covered, a forest of native species, a test drive area with exhibitions and performances from the automotive sector, and much more, to ensure the best experience within the Complex.
