Olive oil: how to avoid fraud and ensure quality
Olive oil is the second most fraudulent food product in the world, behind only fish.
Embrapa Soja is holding a webinar on Soybean Disease Management this Thursday (28/11), starting at 9 am, with Embrapa Soja researcher Claudia Godoy. The researcher intends to address the main diseases that impact soybeans, such as Asian rust. On November 26, the Anti-Rust Consortium recorded the first occurrences of rust in commercial crops in the 2024/2025 harvest, as reported today in an article by Cultivar Magazine.
The infected plants were identified in Itaberá (SP), by a technician from the company Sipcan Agro, and in Itapetininga (SP), by the company G12 Agro. According to Godoy, rust traditionally occurs in late November or early December, so the same pattern was maintained in the current harvest. Registration for the Webinar is free.
The researcher explains that soybean diseases are one of the main factors that limit the maximum exploitation of the grain's productivity potential. More than 40 diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, nematodes and viruses have been identified in Brazil. However, the economic importance of each disease varies from region to region, from harvest to harvest, depending on climate conditions.
“Therefore, it is important to seek updated information on the management of each disease, resistant cultivars and chemical control, aiming to use the most efficient disease control techniques”, explains Cláudia Godoy.
