Different scenarios in the corn harvest in RS
Drought causes losses in several regions of the state; even irrigated crops suffer
At the beginning of this week, Imea (Mato Grosso Institute of Agricultural Economics) released new cost estimates for the production of soybeans in the 23/24 harvest. The estimated average cost increased to R$4.674,42/ha, which represents a decrease of 4,80% when compared to the 22/23 harvest. However, the effective operating cost showed a much less significant decline, estimated at R$6.240,60/ha, with a reduction of 0,42% compared to the last harvest. Therefore, so that soybean growers can cover all effective operational costs for the 23/24 harvest, a bag of soybeans must be sold for at least R$106,66.
As for the current 22/23 soybean crop that continues to be harvested in the state of Mato Grosso, as of January 20th, 5,90% of the areas had already been harvested. This value represents a delay of 7,40 pp compared to the previous harvest. Due to this delay in the soybean harvest, the sowing of the second cotton crop 22/23 is also delayed by 14,98 pp compared to the same period last year.
Regarding the soybean market this week in the state of Mato Grosso, due to the devaluation of the dollar and the greater supply of the grain, oilseed prices fell.
