Researcher and agronomist Solon Cordeiro de Araujo is the new member of the Advisory Board of Symbiomics, a startup that develops new generation biological products for agriculture. Araujo is one of the greatest pioneers in the development of inoculants in Brazil, contributing to the dissemination of Biological Nitrogen Fixation (BNF) in crops such as soybeans. Former president and current consultant of the National Association of Inoculant Producers and Importers (ANPII), Araujo has more than 50 years of experience in research, production and sales of biological products. Having participated in the creation and launch of the first inoculants in the country, he is now betting on Symbiomics to develop a new generation of this technology.

The startup uses cutting-edge knowledge and tools in the field of genomics and bioinformatics with the aim of building synthetic communities of microorganisms that have beneficial effects on agricultural crops, such as drought tolerance and better nutrient absorption. This is possible due to the most recent advances in understanding plant–microorganism relationships and the wide range of benefits that these organisms are capable of performing. This knowledge, however, has not generated many products for application in the field. Symbiomics seeks to change this scenario.

The researcher highlights that this is a new way of seeing these technologies, where microorganisms and the roles they play are seen as part of an agroecosystem and no longer in isolation.

Solon joins other great scientists and managers who are already part of the startup's board, such as Gerhard Bohne, former CEO of Bayer Crop Science Brasil, Bayer's agricultural research division, and Paulo Arruda, researcher at Unicamp and coordinator of several projects research in the area of biotechnology, having been co-founder and Scientific Director of Alellyx Applied Genomics, a Brazilian biotechnology company that pioneered applied plant genomics, founded in 2003.

“Solon has extensive expertise in the inoculants market, accumulating experience in various areas of the sector, from research and development to production and commercialization. We are extremely happy to have you on our team. His background and contributions will be fundamental to the direction of Symbiomics as a company”, adds Jader Armanhi, co-founder of the company.

The addition of Solon Cordeiro de Araujo to the Symbiomics Advisory Board further reinforces the company's commitment to becoming a global reference in the biological market, developing innovative products and technologies.
