Sustainability is one of the pillars of Agrocete, a Brazilian multinational specialized in the production of special fertilizers, adjuvants and inoculants. Through the installation of photovoltaic solar panels in the manufacturing park, the company guarantees the supply of 55% of the energy consumed in the inoculants plant, located in Ponta Grossa (PR). With the generation of clean energy without harm to the environment, the energy bill has recorded a monthly reduction of R$13 thousand since the system was implemented.

The investments that Agrocete must make until 2025 are aimed at expanding the industrial park, which means an increase in the company's area, production and, consequently, energy consumption. Therefore, the current results involving the generation of this type of energy leave the company satisfied and increasingly closer to its objective of maintaining sustainable production. “The expansion of our industrial park goes hand in hand with the reinforcement of our actions for the environment and producing part of the energy we consume in a clean way is our responsibility, a kind of company duty”, explains Andrea de Figueiredo, Marketing Director and Technical Development at Agrocete.

The generation of clean energy has been a reality at Agrocete since March 2021, when the photovoltaic panels were installed. The investment of R$1 million reais already brings a positive return for the company. In 2021, the savings were R$130 thousand, equivalent to an 18% reduction in the electricity bill. By 2026, the investment in plates must be recovered in a sustainable way. “The photovoltaic panels we have installed today produce 25% of all the energy the factory uses. This means that a quarter of what we consume per month is produced locally, in a 100% sustainable way, with less impact on the environment and in line with our vision”, reinforces Andrea.

Other sustainable initiatives: In addition to the generation of clean energy, Agrocete has other projects focused on the environment, such as encouraging the planting of trees, through campaigns to distribute seedlings to the population and the construction of the effluent treatment station, which guarantees even more autonomy to the company with regard to environmental preservation. The treatment plant also includes the inoculant factory, which is the largest in the world. Agrocete, understanding the importance of social responsibility, has a project to implement by July 2023 a structured sector focused exclusively on social, sustainable and internal and external relationship issues. The company is ISO 14001 certified, which guarantees Agrocete's constant search for eliminating the problems that its production chain may bring to the environment and society. The company uses products that carry a 100% biodegradability certificate and that replace chemical products. It is also important to highlight the Paraná Climate Seal received by Agrocete, in recognition of voluntary efforts to measure, publicize and reduce emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2), a gas responsible for global warming and, consequently, the greenhouse effect.
