Soil moisture is at its lowest level in the last 30 years in Mato Grosso and Paraná. In Mato Grosso do Sul, moisture is at its second lowest level in the last 30 years. This is according to a new survey by EarthDaily Agro, a remote sensing company that uses satellite images. The European model ECMWF predicts that this scenario will continue in the next 10 days for Mato Grosso, bringing unfavorable conditions for the start of soybean planting in the state. Average temperatures could be up to 7°C above normal, according to the American model GFS.

In the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, humidity is higher only when compared to 2021, but the forecast indicates an improvement in the next 10 days, still remaining below average. In Paraná, in the last 10 days, temperatures were 3°C to 7°C above normal. In the same period, the state recorded less than 3 millimeters of rain and low soil moisture ended up harming the development of wheat.

Felippe Reis, crop analyst at EarthDaily Agro, explains that the forecast (ECMWF) indicates rain and increased humidity in some areas of the state after the 20th, which will alleviate water stress in wheat crops and allow soybean planting.

Both ECMWF and GFS forecast above-normal temperatures for practically the entire country. In Rio Grande do Sul, below-average rainfall is forecast for the coming days, enough only to increase humidity.
