Since its launch in 2016, the Prospera program has transformed agriculture in the Northeast region of Brazil. Aimed at small corn producers, the initiative offers access to the best technologies and practices for production, with the aim of strengthening the local production chain and promoting the region's socioeconomic development. With support from Massey Ferguson, the program has already trained more than 15 thousand family farmers and reached more than 41 thousand people. The brand participates in the project by offering agricultural machinery and implements and training for producers to reach new levels of productivity and have more profitability in the field.
"Our goal is to see a significant increase in production and income for farmers, who, with the support of our machines and the knowledge acquired, will be able to cultivate more, in a sustainable and efficient way. We are proud to be part of a program that generates a such a positive impact on the lives of so many producers”, highlights Marcelo do Carmo, commercial coordinator at Massey Ferguson.
Willam de Lima Domingos, a corn producer in São Bento do Una (PE), began his partnership with the project in 2024. The producer dedicated eight hectares of his property to planting using techniques and knowledge acquired through the training offered. “Before Prospera, our planting was done without the use of technology, which limited our production potential. Today, thanks to the program, we have had several benefits in terms of technology and increased production”, he says.
Another producer who saw his reality transform was Gustavo Rodrigues, from Batalha (AL). "I have always liked investing in farming, looking for the best management practices in search of good results. With Prospera, we were able to further enhance these efforts", he comments.
This year, Gustavo planted corn with the MF 4292 tractor in an area of 160 hectares, a significant increase compared to the 47 hectares cultivated before joining the program. "I'm already planning for next year, when I intend to expand to 300 hectares," he says. The producer has also noticed a visible improvement in production since adopting the practices promoted by Prospera. "We have already noticed an improvement in production, which motivates us to continue investing and expanding", he highlights.
Obtaining a productive harvest is every producer’s goal. Plantability is related to the uniform distribution of seeds, which must be deposited at the correct spacing and depth. To do this planting correctly, the farmer needs to mechanize his planting. The Prospera program offers, through agronomists specialized in corn cultivation, virtual and in-person technical assistance for the adoption of a Sustainable High Productive Yield System for mechanized and precision agriculture.
Since its origins, Prospera has expanded its operations to new states, such as Ceará, Paraíba and Alagoas, and this year arrived in Rio Grande do Norte. By 2030, the program seeks to guarantee sustainable food production systems, increase agricultural productivity, improve the income of small producers and strengthen resilience to climate change, always respecting local cultural practices.
Prospera is supported by Corteva Agriscience, Yara Brasil and supported by Massey Ferguson, large companies in the agribusiness market that, together, offer an ecosystem of new production technologies for high sustainable yield offering producers in the states within the scope of the program, an ecosystem productive, connecting producers and rural communities to the local value chain, promoting increased productivity and income, as well as local socioeconomic development.
