The SLC Agrícola and the IPAM (Institute for Environmental Research of the Amazon) sign, on April 25th, a financial compensation contract for the maintenance of an area of 1.358 hectares of native vegetation within the Perdizes Farm, in Mato Grosso, within the scope of the CONSERV Project . This is the largest individual area to join the mechanism and the first located in the Amazon biome.

In addition to the new membership, CONSERV currently encourages the conservation of 9.768 hectares on ten rural properties in Mato Grosso. According to SLC Agrícola, the agreement confirms the company's commitment to the conservation of native forests and the Zero Deforestation Policy. The area included in the contract with IPAM is not part of the farm's Legal Reserves or Permanent Preservation Areas (APP).

Private and voluntary, the mechanism recognizes the role of rural producers in maintaining native forests and proposes a new model in which conservation is combined with development. Launched in 2020 and developed by IPAM - in partnership with the EDF (Environmental Defense Fund) and the Woodwell Climate Research Center -, at this stage, CONSERV operates in municipalities in Mato Grosso, in the Amazon and Cerrado biomes.
