The National Union of the Plant Defense Products Industry (Sindiveg) has just launched the fifth module of training on the correct and safe use of agricultural pesticides – on its online training platform –, which addresses the importance of agricultural aviation, the main crops benefited , the specific regulation of the activity and its role beyond the application of pesticides.
"In another stage of training on pesticides, prepared by specialists in the subject, farmers, employees of agricultural properties and other interested parties can learn a little about the history of agricultural aviation, as well as strategies for planning aerial spraying and related good practices this type of pesticide application", informs the entity's executive director, Eliane Kay.
According to Eliane, aviation is an important tool for effectively controlling pests and diseases that harm crops. These problems are common in tropical climates, challenging farmers year-round. "The agricultural pesticides used in the country have scientifically proven high technology and play an essential role in increasing food production", she highlights.
The fifth module of the platform was produced in partnership with the National Union of Agricultural Aviation Companies (Sindag) and the consultancy AgroEfetiva, through Fernando Kassis Carvalho. Graduated in agronomy, he has a master's and doctorate in the field from the Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp) and a doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (USA).
The tool is completely free and can be accessed by anyone interested in the site. www.sindiveg.org.br/cursos. Launched in 2020, the platform already has more than 16 thousand people registered, including around 7 thousand farmers. In total, more than 15 thousand certificates have already been issued on the portal, which also offers training on the relationship between beekeeping and agriculture, within the scope of the Colmeia Viva program.
It is worth remembering that the training issues a certificate of completion at the end of the module and that it is still possible to access the first modules on safety in the application of agricultural pesticides, application technology, prevention and first aid in the use of these products and acquisition, transport and storage of pesticides on rural property.
"Education is one of the most important pillars of Sindiveg's work, which invests in disseminating knowledge, multiplying good practices. After all, pesticides require special care and using them correctly and safely is beneficial for the producer, the environment, the plantations and the people”, says the president of Sindiveg, Júlio Borges.
To participate in distance training, simply access the portal www.sindiveg.org.br/cursos and fill in the registration data. The certificate is free and issued upon completion of each stage.
Another training available through the Sindiveg platform deals with "Good practices in the relationship between agriculture and beekeeping". There are seven modules: (1) agriculture, beekeeping and agricultural pesticides; (2) pesticides: bee-friendly practices; (3) good beekeeping practices in relation to agriculture; (4) how to apply pesticides without impacting bees; (4) formalization of beekeeping; (6) the importance of learning to care for and protect bees; and (7) terrestrial application: bee-friendly techniques.
