A total of 308 people have been trained by SENAR-RS within the Deriva Zero program since the new SEAPDR Normative Instruction No. 06/2019 came into force. The regulations establish the registry of applicators of hormonal agrochemical products from the auxin group, including the active ingredient 2, 4-D, regulate their application and provide other measures. The 11 groups received guidance in the municipalities of Alpestre, Bagé, Jari, Lavras do Sul, Rosário do Sul, Santana do Livramento, Santiago and São Borja. Alexandre Prado, coordinator of Special Programs at SENAR-RS, states that these eight municipalities are among the 24 municipalities that require the applicator of hormonal pesticides to be registered with SEAPDR.

Due to the beginning of the planting of summer crops, in 2019 there was a reduction in demand for new Deriva Zero classes. The program is aimed at rural producers in segments that use agricultural pesticides throughout the development of their crops and workers involved in the application of pesticides. The theoretical and practical approach involves updating application technology, correct and safe use of pesticides, transportation, storage and preparation of products, legislation (procedures recommended in NR 31.8 regarding the use of agrochemicals), labeling and safety signs, forms of exposure direct and indirect, signs and symptoms of poisoning, first aid, personal protective equipment, spraying equipment, regulation and calibration of equipment and drift control, among other topics.

Drift is a problem that causes losses to the producer himself, in unfavorable conditions, to neighboring producers, who may have their crops damaged by the undue action of these chemicals. The problem is not in the product itself, but in the applicators' lack of knowledge, as spraying can be affected by a series of factors such as wind, temperature, choice of spray tips, among others that determine the result of the spray. application.
