Fifteen professionals linked to seed companies in Goiás, Minas Gerais and São Paulo were today (22/07) at Embrapa Arroz e Feijão (Santo Antônio de Goiás-GO) to visit genetic seed production fields from the bean and discuss crop management.

Visitors toured plots planted with cultivars that are already on the market and viewed promising strains in advanced stages of the bean improvement program. The group also debated with researchers and the Embrapa Technology Transfer team on issues such as phytotechnical adjustment of cultivars; fertilization with macro and micronutrients; and use of biostimulants and growth regulators for beans, with impacts on agronomic performance and, in particular, on grain productivity.

The group that came to Embrapa Arroz e Feijão belongs to seed companies: BJ Seeds, Di Sol, JHS, Lagoa Bonita, Marambaia, Orient and Shancap. All are partners in a special research project aimed at developing superior carioca bean cultivars for the Central and Southern regions of Brazil. The ultimate objective of this work is to provide technological solutions that have maximum adherence to market expectations for culture.
