The Government of Goiás begins presenting information to rural producers regarding the 2023-24 harvest. The data covers production, climate, market, plant health and technical assistance. Everything is contained in information.
“Climate changes caused by the arrival of El Niño demand special attention from the production sector to prevent possible losses. Realizing this need for information, we decided to help rural producers in Goiás in making decisions”, highlights the head of Seapa, Pedro Leonardo Rezende.
One of the points is the prognosis of the impact of El Niño on the rainfall regime in the months of October, November and December. The probability is that rainfall will be below the historical average in the Central-North region of Goiás, while in the Southwest and South it may be slightly above average.
There are also analyzes on the evolution of soybean and corn production in Goiás and on the behavior of the prices of the two commodities. “For soybeans, lower prices are expected than in recent years. However, the reduction in production costs should preserve the producer's profitability. For corn, expectations are no different”, warns the Institute for the Strengthening of Agriculture of Goiás (Ifag).
Seapa's Agricultural Market Intelligence Management highlights the main factors that should guide producer decisions and draws attention to the importance of rural insurance: “amid the uncertainties that hover over the 2023/2024 Harvest, an opportunity to avoid losses is the contracting of rural insurance, offered through the Rural Insurance Premium Subsidy Program (PSR), granted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock”.
