The Satis Experimental Field was officially opened this Friday (20/5). The five-hectare area located next to the company's headquarters farm, in the municipality of Araxá, Minas Gerais, reinforces the brand's commitment to promoting research and innovative solutions for agribusiness. The ceremony brought together company directors, producers, sector leaders and authorities from the region.

To mark the inauguration, a field day focused on coffee culture was held. After a welcome by the president and CEO of Satis, José do Nascimento Ribeiro and Endrigo Bezerra, there was a presentation by experts from Santinato & Santinato Cafés, a consultancy with more than 50 years in the market. Professionals with a doctorate in agronomy, consultants Roberto and Felipe Santinato addressed the topics “Recommendations for managing coffee trees after frost” and “Coffee cultivars in Araxá in rainfed and irrigated areas”.

Lunch and music for guests marked the celebration at the end of the inauguration. The president of Satis highlighted that the choice to hold a field day to mark the official launch is in line with the purpose of the experimental field. “Nothing better than sharing knowledge and experience to celebrate this achievement. Having our own field focused on research and studies positions us among the main agricultural companies engaged with innovation in the country”, stated Nascimento.

Structure for research

Considered a strategic differentiator in the market, Satis Experimental Field was specially designed to carry out studies with the brand's products and technologies applied in different cultures. Since the beginning of its operation, the area has accumulated 69 studies and more than 1.200 experimental plots, including the protocols in progress in the current harvest. The objective of these works is to create new solutions in plant nutrition and/or new application methods for brand products already offered on the market in order to contribute to the performance of these evaluated varieties.

The plans to have an experimental field were made possible with the purchase of Fazenda Novo Horizonte in 2016, becoming the headquarters of Satis. In 2019, the company began construction of the structure, including fencing the area, an office and a nursery for the development of coffee seedlings. At the end of the same year, the field was already receiving grain planting with trials of soybeans, corn and beans. In 2020, there was an expansion in the structure, construction of a warehouse for machinery, equipment and products.

In addition to creating and improving plant nutrition technologies, the field also contributes to the development of agribusiness professionals and academics. “We also want to generate more and more opportunities to encourage new talents in the sector. And this structure of ours will make a great contribution, like the countless ones we have established with different universities and technical entities in the sector”, highlights Endrigo Bezerra.
