The Mato Grosso Soybean Producers Association (Aprosoja-MT) celebrates the approval of the bill that will have a profound impact on the implementation of the Soy Moratorium in Mato Grosso. The end of tax incentives for companies that abuse their dominant position strengthens our conviction that we are closer to the end of this agreement, which has been harming countless farming families for years.

Despite the partial veto of items II and III of article 2, the central objectives of the new law were preserved. Item I, which remains in force, prohibits the granting of benefits to companies that assume commitments — national or international — that restrict the expansion of agriculture and livestock farming in areas not protected by specific environmental legislation. It is important to emphasize that this provision encompasses global institutional policies that create obstacles to free enterprise.

“Aprosoja will be alert to any attempt to circumvent the law and warns the companies that signed the Soy Moratorium about the losses resulting from proven violation of legal requirements, which includes the return of the entire amount of tax incentives enjoyed by the company in the current calendar year. We will not rest until there is a producer harmed by the Soy Moratorium. And until the termination of this agreement is achieved, the trading companies will not be able to sleep peacefully either. This is our commitment to the sector”, declared Lucas Costa Beber, president of Aprosoja MT.

The enactment of this law is a fundamental step towards restoring free enterprise and reaffirming respect for Brazilian environmental legislation. With this measure, Brazilian producers are moving towards liberation from the constraints created by this trade agreement that ignores the fundamental rights of our citizens.
