The Agroecology Showcase, known as “Vital”, will be one of the main attractions of the 5th Winter Rural Coopavel Show, which will be held between August 27th and 29th, 2024, in Cascavel, in the west of Paraná (PR). The initiative is a great success in the summer editions of Show Rural, and has been present in the program for over 20 years. There will be six technical batteries with themes related to sustainable agriculture presented in two periods, in the morning and afternoon, on August 28th.

Each of the batteries, for different audiences, will work on the following subjects: direct planting system for vegetables, protected cultivation, sustainable grains, sustainable livestock system, agroforestry system and mandala of unconventional food plants and aromatic plants. Each shift is expected to last three hours.

The Agroecological Showcase is linked to the Vitória agreement (Technological Showcases for Agroecology and Sustainability), a partnership between Itaipu Binacional, IDR-Paraná and Fapeagro (Research Support Foundation). With this new attraction, the Rural Coopavel Winter Show will attract even more attention from family farmers, organic producers and people linked to sustainable agriculture, informs the agronomist from the socio-economic area of IDR-PR (Institute of Rural Development of Paraná) , Simone Grisa.

From all over the West

In this first edition, the Agroecology Technological Showcase will feature the participation of hundreds of rural producers. Four itineraries are being organized to allow the participation of those interested in these issues from across the region, according to Simone. Buses will leave, early in the morning of August 28th, from Foz do Iguaçu, Santa Helena, Marechal Cândido Rondon and Laranjeiras do Sul towards Cascavel.

Parallel to the batteries of agroecology themes, the Technological Showcase will feature other attractions. Among them will be a model of organic production and certification, bioactive plants and bioconstructions. The showcase is an already consolidated project with the participation of 14 partners, such as research institutes, universities, non-governmental organizations, cooperatives and technical assistance institutions, in addition to Itaipu Binacional and Coopavel.

“This is an important novelty, because it reaffirms a historic commitment of our cooperative and Show Rural to family farming and sustainable production, which are strongly integrated into the agricultural tradition of the West and Paraná”, emphasizes the president of Coopavel, Dilvo Grolli.

The fifth edition of the Rural Winter Show will have gates opening from August 27th to 29th, starting at 8:30 am. Access to the park is free, as is the use of parking spaces. As this is a work and learning event, visitors will be invited to lunch at the park's restaurant, free of charge.
