Rural producers will benefit from sustainable practices

Medium and large rural producers who prove the adoption of sustainable production practices, through valid and active certifications, will be able to obtain a reduction of 0,5 percentage points in the interest rate for financing. The measure was implemented by Resolution of the National Monetary Council (CMN) No. 5.152, published on July 2, 2024, and aims to stimulate sustainability in the agricultural sector.

The benefit is valid for certifications valid in official programs, such as Integrated Production (PI Brasil), through certification of compliance issued by a certifying institution accredited by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro); the Good Agricultural Practices Program (BPA), through certification issued by a certifying institution with a program recognized by MAPA; and organic production systems, through certification carried out by certifying institutions accredited by MAPA or certification carried out by participating bodies assessing organic compliance, within the scope of the Participatory Guarantee System (SPG).

Producers who have taken out investment credit in one of the RenovAgro subprograms (formerly the ABC Program) in the last five agricultural years are also entitled to the discount, provided that the financing credit is intended for activities carried out in an area that is wholly or partially the same as the area that is the subject of the RenovAgro financing and the financing is related to the financed activity. In this case, the producer simply needs to authorize the financial institution to access information on their financing obtained from other banks.

In order to qualify for the benefit, rural producers must meet the following requirements: prior socio-environmental qualification of the rural establishment on the AB+S Platform; contain at least one valid certificate of sustainable practices issued to the producer who requested qualification for the Harvest Plan and registered by the respective institution on the AB+S Platform; and the CAR number of the rural establishment certified for sustainable practices.
