The federal government has launched Desenrola Rural, a program designed to regularize debts and facilitate access to credit for family farmers, agrarian reform settlers, quilombolas and other traditional communities. The decree was signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and provides for special conditions for settling and renegotiating debts, allowing beneficiaries to resume financing and invest in food production. The official launch will take place today (February 14) at the Planalto Palace.
According to the Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Farming, Paulo Teixeira, the program can serve around one million farmers who face financial constraints. The initiative seeks to resolve obstacles such as overdue debts and negative credit scores, expanding access to Pronaf financing lines.
Financial institutions will offer discounts that can exceed 90%, depending on the operation, in addition to measures to rehabilitate the producers' name in the credit market. The program will also allow the regularization of debts registered in the Federal Government's Active Debt and debts with banks, cards and installation credits.
The growing debt of farmers over the last ten years, driven by factors such as the pandemic, market fluctuations and extreme weather events, led to the creation of Desenrola Rural. Data indicate that 1,35 million farmers have outstanding debts, with 69% owing amounts less than R$10.
Interested parties will be able to join the program starting February 24, 2025. To do so, they must access the Regularize website to consult and negotiate debts registered in the Federal Government's Active Debt, or directly contact their financial institutions or Incra to regularize installation credit debts. Representative entities are also available to assist in the process.
