RS 2024/25 Harvest: rains alleviate water stress in soybeans and corn
Phytosanitary conditions require intensified monitoring
The forecast for the coming days indicates changes in the weather over Rio Grande do Sul, with the possibility of rain in isolated areas of the state. This is what is indicated in the Integrated Agrometeorological Bulletin 5/2025, from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi), in partnership with Emater/RS and the Rio Grande do Sul Rice Institute (Irga).
Friday (31/1): A trough (an elongated area of low pressure) will develop and intensify between Paraguay and the border between Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, creating more unstable conditions that are necessary for the occurrence of precipitation. In this case, the intensity of precipitation will vary from light to moderate over the North and Campos de Cima da Serra regions. In the other areas, the weather should remain stable with mild temperatures throughout the day, despite the increase in cloud cover.
Saturday (1/2) e Sunday (2/2): The same atmospheric configuration as in previous days will maintain conditions for the occurrence of precipitation with intensity ranging from light to moderate in part of the Campos de Cima da Serra Region. However, there will be a change in relation to temperatures. Thus, a gradual increase is expected from Saturday afternoon, which may reduce cloudiness and make the weather drier.
Monday (3/2) e Tuesday (4/2): There will be conditions for the occurrence of precipitation with intensity ranging from light to moderate over the North and Campos de Cima da Serra regions, depending on the humidity transported by the anticyclone that will be located in the ocean. At the same time, a low pressure area will form between the interior of Argentina and the Rio de la Plata and will intensify a pre-frontal trough that will channel humidity from the Amazon towards the area in question. On the other hand, over the state the weather will be slightly unstable, remaining dry and with temperatures rising on the respective days.
Wednesday (5/2): A cold front will form in Uruguay and then move over Rio Grande do Sul, causing light to moderate rainfall, mainly in the South, Campanha and Campos de Cima da Serra regions. In the other regions, rainfall is expected to be light.
The forecast for next week points to the possibility of moderate rainfall, mainly in the North, Campos de Cima da Serra and Serra Gaúcha regions, where volumes between 10 and 50 mm are expected, and along the coastal strip between Mostardas and the Metropolitan Region, where volumes expected will reach 100 mm. In the South region, volumes expected will be between 10 and 20 mm. In the Central, Metropolitan, Vales Region, Northwest, Planalto and part of the Western Border regions, volumes between 1 and 5 mm are expected. In parts of the Western Border Region and Missões, no precipitation is forecast.
