Rio Grande do Sul is expected to harvest the largest Winter Harvest in 2022, with a total production perspective of 5 million tons of grains (an increase of 11,9% compared to the previous year), with 3,9 million tons of wheat, 870,2 thousand tons of white oats, 108,6 thousand tons of barley and 91,3 thousand tons of canola.

This is the initial estimate released this morning (07/06), in Café para Imprensa, a hybrid virtual press conference, with in-person participation of the local press at the Central Office and live and simultaneous broadcast on the YouTube channels of the Rio Grande Rural Program and the Emater/RS-Ascar Facebook page, linked to the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development (Seapdr).

The event, mediated by journalist Ellen Bonow, was attended by the president of Seapdr's special advisor, Paulo Roberto Silva, representing secretary Domingos Lopes Velho, the president of the Institution, Edmilson Pelizari, and the administrative and technical directors, Lino Hamann and Alencar Rugeri, who presented the data.

According to the survey compiled by the Planning Management (GPL) and carried out by municipal offices between the 11th and 23/05, the initial productivity is based on the trend shown by the averages recorded over the last ten years.

Rugeri highlights that, despite wheat also having the largest harvest since 2011, with an estimated increase of 12,53% in production (3,9 million tons compared to 3,5 million last year and an increase of 15,04% in the area cultivated (1,4 million hectares compared to the 1,2 million hectares of the previous harvest), according to the trend, the average productivity should be 2,17% lower (2,82 t/ha) in relation to the previous year (2,88 .2021t/ha). The second largest wheat harvest was the previous one, in 3,5, with production of 2013 million tons, and the third largest in 3,3, with XNUMX million tons. “The numbers demonstrate full recovery in Gaucho and Brazilian agriculture”, celebrates Rugeri.

For Pelizari, the positive production, area and productivity numbers reflect the work of the farmers, “but also the performance and commitment of the Emater/RS-Ascar extension agents and all the support provided by Seapdr”.
