PR 2024/25 Harvest: harvests suffer from unstable weather
Corn, vegetables and coffee were the crops most affected in the first week of July
The Government of Rio Grande do Sul, through the Secretariat of Innovation, Science and Technology (Sict), will host the meeting of the Agribusiness Intelligence Center (Centro Agro) on July 24. The event, which will be held in the auditorium of the Assis Brasil Exhibition Park in Esteio, aims to bring together stakeholders from the ecosystem to advance the work agenda and deliverables planned for 2025. The Secretariats of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi) and Rural Development (SDR) are partners in the project.
According to Mário Augusto Gonçalves, Deputy Secretary of Innovation, Science, and Technology, "It's crucial to develop innovative public policies for agribusiness, and the Agro Center is part of this. Agriculture is a vital part of the lives of Rio Grande do Sul residents, and we will work to ensure this initiative becomes a benchmark not only in Brazil but also in Latin America," he comments.
For Seapi, the Center should be a platform for discussing issues related to the future of agribusiness in Rio Grande do Sul. "It's about using science and technology to improve the state's productivity, based on scientific data and assessments so we can further improve the quality of our products, increase production area and productivity, resulting in positive results for the economy and GDP," emphasized Chief of Staff Joel Maraschin.
The resumption of activities is also welcomed by the SDR. "We are excited about the resumption of the Agro Center project, a strategic initiative that aims to map, value, and promote innovative initiatives that emerge in the countryside and make agribusiness one of the main drivers of development in Rio Grande do Sul. The goal is to bring together, in a single space, the various innovation initiatives in the sector, strengthening the connection between technology, production, and sustainability," highlighted General Director Romano Scapin.
The meeting's program will feature discussions on case studies and results in Rio Grande do Sul's agribusiness sector, the agribusiness we want, and next steps, among others. Registration is free and must be completed by July 22nd.
