RS has already harvested 51,66% of its rice crops

The rice harvest in Rio Grande do Sul continues to advance, reaching 51,66% of the sown area, totaling 501.276,67 hectares harvested. The Western Border continues to lead the harvest, with 71,41% of the sown area already harvested, followed by the External Coastal Plain with 61,41%, Internal Coastal Plain with 53,25%, Campanha with 40,91%, Central Region with 34,76% and South Zone with 31,92%.

According to Luiz Fernando Siqueira, manager of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Division, the weather has been favorable for the harvest and has offered producers a daily window of many hours of work, allowing the harvest to advance. "The South Zone is the region that has progressed the most proportionally in the harvest. It was the last region to start planting and consequently the last to begin harvesting, but it has progressed quickly due to the organization and mechanization of the region's producers," says the agronomist, highlighting that the harvest should continue throughout April and possibly into May.

Data on the rice harvest is collected and released weekly by Irga, through the Safra platform, which provides accurate and detailed information on the progress of sowing and harvesting. The platform is fed by Irga's 37 offices distributed throughout all rice-growing regions of the state.
